Migrants and descendants of the native Shipibo-Konibos reflect on life in the urban settlement of Cantagallo, on how they preserve collective Amazonian memory, and on the risk of COVID-19 contagion while living without access to essential resources like sewage, running water, and electric power.

El mundo entero está cubierto por diseños”, dice una canción Shipibo-konibo, un grupo étnico de la amazonía peruana que habita las riberas y  afluentes del río Ucayali en Perú.
Su arte se expresa en bellos diseños geométricos o kené , muy ricos en significado, diseños que enlazan el mundo visible con el mundo invisible. Como dice el  murayá  o chamán: “todo el mundo visible está cubierto por motivos invisibles”. «Estas líneas torcidas representan serpientes», rememora una anciana shipibo : «La anaconda misma nos enseñó a pintar»; y otra indígena, señalando el cielo estrellado decía: « Ves que arriba está lleno de caminos, así arriba es igual que abajo, todo lleno de caminos. Hacemos nuestras faldas bordadas de blanco sobre fondo negro para representar la luz de las estrellas. Forman diseños porque nosotros vemos estos caminos en el cielo
